Our first stop was the Stone Forest, a natural wonder that looks like a giant forest made of rocks. The shapes of the stones were so unusual that I couldn’t help but take many photos. My parents were also amazed by the beauty of the place. I learned that the Stone Forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which made me proud to be there.
From Kunming, we took a train to Lijiang, a city known for its ancient architecture and ethnic culture. When we arrived, I was surprised by the old wooden houses and the narrow streets. There were many people walking around, and some of them were dressed in traditional clothes. I saw a group of Naxi people performing their traditional dance, which was very lively and colorful. I tried to take part in the dance, but I was not very good at it. However, the locals were very friendly and encouraged me to keep trying.
One of the most memorable parts of our trip was visiting the Tiger Leaping Gorge. It is one of the deepest gorges in the world, and the view from the top was breathtaking. We walked along the cliffside path, and although it was a bit dangerous, the scenery was worth every step. The river below was rushing fast, and the sound of the water filled the air. I felt very small compared to the vast nature around me.
In addition to the natural beauty, I also enjoyed learning about the local culture. In a village near Lijiang, I met a local family who invited us to have lunch with them. They cooked traditional dishes like dumplings and rice noodles. I tried some of the food, and it was delicious. I also learned how to make some simple dishes with the help of the family members. It was a great experience to understand their daily life and traditions.
During the trip, I also practiced my English a lot. I spoke with some tourists and even helped a foreigner find his way to the hotel. Although I made some mistakes, I felt more confident in using English in real situations. This trip not only allowed me to enjoy the beauty of Yunnan but also helped me improve my language skills.
